The Fox Valley Saxophone Student Assistance Program

Project Overview

Our mission is for all students to have access to music education, regardless of financial status, race, gender, or ability. My project will involve fundraising and providing supplies for middle and high school level saxophonists in Fox Valley, Wisconsin area schools.

It is no secret that music is expensive, and most schools require students to have an instrument, books, a stand, a metronome, a tuner, cleaning supplies, reeds, and more. This is hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars' worth of equipment that students and their families may not be able to afford.

Low income students should not be excluded from music education. This project aims to raise funds in order to purchase supplies for these saxophone students to aid their music education journey.

In order to accomplish the goals of this project, we will be reaching out to local businesses to find donations of either money or supplies for the selected students. Examples of supplies that will be purchased for students include reeds, music, books, or gift cards to music stores.

This project is a part of the North American Saxophone Alliance, Committee on the Status of Women,  Women+’s Mentoring Program. The program aims to develop community engagement programs that will serve the saxophone community and assist populations that are under-resourced in the community.
